Doug Milner
President and CEO

In his role as president and CEO, Doug Milner brings to bear nearly 30 years of experience in developing and leading both private and public companies across a range of industries including the UPS and power infrastructure markets to industrial services to nuclear and petrochemical. A driven, high energy leader, Milner has a commitment and passion for building top performing teams and focusing continuously on the needs of the customer.

Milner most recently served as chief operating officer at Aquilex Corporation, a global provider of critical maintenance, repair, and industrial cleaning solutions to the energy services sector. In this role, Milner was responsible for all domestic and international field operations made up of nearly 4,000 employees. He led the charge in positioning the business for rapid growth in the oil and gas sector and developing new market opportunities internationally.

Prior to Aquilex, Milner was president of Stowe Woodward, a subsidiary of Xerium Technologies. At Xerium, Milner led the global strategic restructuring and repositioning of the business to improve productivity and more closely align its capabilities with the emerging needs of its customers. These core changes led in part to a reversal of a five-year trend in declining sales and returned the business to both revenue and profit growth.

Milner’s career also includes senior leadership roles at Ziptronix, Inc., and Exide Electronics which was subsequently Powerware Corporation, a global leader in UPS technology prior to the company being acquired by Eaton. Milner drove overall strategy and global operations for the $1 billion Power Systems Group, a business unit of Invensys plc.

Milner received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Ohio Wesleyan University, a master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a master’s in Business Administration from Duke University.
John Penver
Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Finance

John Penver is chief financial officer and vice president of Finance, responsible for overall financial operations and management at Active Power, having served in this role since March 2005. With more than 26 years of financial management experience gained in international manufacturing and technology environments, Penver previously served as chief financial officer for companies including PerformanceRetail, Inc., Factory Logic, Inc., and Yclip Corporation.

Penver also served as vice president of Finance at Silicon Gaming, Inc., a publicly traded manufacturer of high tech slot machines. Prior to this position, Penver worked for more than 14 years at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, one of the world’s largest public accounting firms in both Australia and the United States.

Penver is a certified public accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Chartered Accountant (CA), belonging to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He holds a master’s of Business Administration from Santa Clara University and a bachelor’s degree of Business in Accounting from Monash University in Australia.

Uwe Schrader-Hausmann
Chief Technical Officer

An electrical engineer by trade, Uwe Schrader-Hausmann serves as chief technical officer, overseeing the company’s technical innovation efforts in the areas of research and development, engineering, and technical service and support functions on a global scale. In addition to this role, he also serves as managing director of Active Power (Germany) GmbH.

A holder of one U.S. patent and two international patents, Schrader-Hausmann has more than 32 years experience in the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) market. He most recently served as vice president, Technical Services for Active Power. Prior to this, Schrader-Hausmann was technical director for the company’s EMEA territory (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Prior to joining Active Power, Schrader-Hausmann worked in various positions at Piller Power Systems GmbH, serving as chief technology officer and quality manager.

Schrader-Hausmann earned his Diplom-Ingenieur (German equivalent of a master’s of Science) from The University of Applied Science in Hanover, Germany.

Noel Foley
Vice President, Engineering

A U.S. patent holder, Noel Foley leads the engineering team responsible for the development of Active Power’s uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, continuous power and infrastructure solutions. Having a proven track record of developing innovative power products for a variety of markets, Foley brings a tremendous amount of relevant engineering management, program management, and product development experience to the position.

Prior to Active Power, Foley served as vice president of Engineering for SolarBridge Technologies, a provider of integrated micro-inverter solutions for the solar industry. Foley built his engineering team from the ground up and led the organization to deliver on the introduction of a new product category in the solar technology market.

Foley has also held leadership positions at Dell Computer where he was responsible for power architecture definition and power system development of server, storage, and desktop products. At Lucent Technologies, he developed high reliability, network equipment building systems (NEBS) compliant power solutions for central office datacom products.

Foley holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University College Cork, Ireland and a master’s in Business Administration from Boston College.
Lisa Brown
Vice President, Marketing and Sales Operations

Lisa Brown leads Active Power’s marketing and sales operations units with responsibility for integrated marketing, product management, marketing communications, public relations and sales operations functions.

Prior to joining Active Power, Brown spent 14 years with Broadwing Communications where she held executive positions including vice president of Marketing, Sales Operations and Customer Operations. She also ran the company’s General Business Markets Division responsible for more than 100,000 customers and $110 million of annual revenue.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.

Martin Olsen
Vice President, Global Sales

Martin Olsen serves as the company’s vice president of Global Sales. In this role, Olsen leads all multi-channel sales strategies to drive growth and market penetration within Active Power's 13 trading markets around the globe. In addition to his sales responsibilities, Olsen also oversees all global business development efforts to diversify sales channels and expand new revenue streams for the company.

A holder of three U.S. patents, Olsen is a seasoned professional in the datacenter infrastructure markets with more than 13 years of global marketing, product development, and business development experience. Olsen previously served as vice president of Global Channels and Business Development for Active Power.

Before joining the company in 2007, Olsen was director of the Data Center Group for Wright Line LLC, a Worcester, Mass. based datacenter infrastructure firm. Prior to that, Olsen worked in the United States and several years overseas in Munich and Singapore, where he led the product marketing and business development charter for APC by Schneider Electric.

Olsen received his bachelor’s of science in Marketing from the International Business College at Kolding, Denmark. In addition to his degree, he also earned diplomas in Logistics and International Business Law from the International Business College at Kolding, Denmark.

Jason Rubin
Vice President, Manufacturing

Jason Rubin is vice president of Manufacturing with responsibility for the manufacturing and testing of all Active Power products, but also manages the materials and logistics for those products.

Rubin has 21 years of manufacturing experience ranging from tire production to textiles. Prior to joining Active Power in 2000, he was involved in managing operations, introducing new products and improving manufacturing systems for Windsport, Inc., in Austin, Texas.

Rubin earned a bachelor’s of science in Industrial Engineering from The University of Oklahoma at Norman.
